Lumbar sciatica during pregnancy

Lumbar sciatica is one of the most unpleasant problems that pregnancy will bring. Back pain and numbness of the upper back area, will most of the time add to a woman’s general discomfort.

Although in early pregnancy, weight gain is not a really big deal (you become big in the last few months), pregnant women will say that lumbar sciatica symptoms may occur at this stage, as well. However, the way that pregnant women manage to escape the lumbar pain — which by the way are quite annoying — is quite simple: you need to do those physical exercises that your doctor has recommended.

Lumbar pain when you deal with sciatica, occurs as a result of disturbing the sciatic nerve by the uterus. Therefore, pain occurs in the lumbar region of the body, with pain going down the back of your leg. If the pain becomes unbearable during pregnancy it’s recommended that you rest at this time.

Also know that sitting does not help to relax the sciatic nerve, it actually disturbs the sciatic nerve for some very unpleasant symptoms. Therefore, it is recommended that pregnant ladies will lie in bed, possibly with feet slightly elevated, supported by a pillow.

Have you had, or do you have, any back pains during your pregnancy?
